There are nine sacred holy days in Baha'i Faith in which work isn't allowed during. These holy days are important events in the lives of central figures, or events that are celebrated. The Baha'i calendar is made up of 19 months and has a name of God in Arabic which is derived from Islam. The last month of the Baha'i month is called Ala which adherents of the Baha'i faith are required to fast from sunrise to sunset.

nineteen day feastThe Nineteen day Feast is an event that occurs at the beginning of every Baha'i month. . The purpose of the Baha'i feast is "to bind your hearts together".The Feast includes 3 main components: spiritual devotion, administrative consultation and fellowship. It is usually held at a community centre, or in a Baha'is home. There is a meal which is usually served although it doesn't have to be a large meal.

Baha'i new year takes place on the first day of spring because it is significant to starting off fresh. April 21- First day of Ridvan Ridvan is a twelve day period that takes place from April 21 to May 2 in which Bahai's celebrate when Baha'u'llah resided in called The Garden of Ridvan in Baghdad in 1863. April 29 - Ninth day of Ridvan The ninth day of Ridvan commemorates when Baha'u'llah's family arrived at the garden and celebrated Ridvan. May 2- Twelfth day of Ridvan On the twelfth day of Ridvan Baha'u'llah along with eleven family members and twenty six disciples left for Constantinople. Wherever they stopped, they were proceeded by government cavalry, flags and beating drums. |

May 23- Declaration of Bab in Shiraz
On May 23 in 1844, Baha'i Faith began to spread in Shiraz,Persia. The Bab proclaimed he was one of the founders of the religion along with someone to come. May 29- Ascension of Baha'u'llah On May 29 1892, Baha'u'llah passed away in Akka, Palestine. July 9- The Martyrdom of the Bab Baha'i adherents commemorate the day the Bab was executed in 1850 by a 750-man firing squad in Tabriz, Persia. The Bab vanished in smoke and was found completing his final instructions to his amanuensis. The Bab and Anis bodies are retrieved and were taken to the Shrine of Bab on Mt. Carmel in Israel. October 20 - Birth of Bab Bahais commemorate the birth of the Bab who was born in 1819 in Shiraz, Persia. November 12- Birth of Baha'u'llah Bahais commemorate the birth of Baha'u'llah who was born as Mirza Husayn-Ali in 1817 in Tehran, Persia. He never went to school adn was taught calligraphy, riding, classical poetry and could understand the Qur'an. |
